tvN’s “My Bias, My Boss” Script Reading Teases Electric Rom-Com Chemistry

The highly anticipated upcoming tvN romantic comedy has officially kicked off its promotional countdown. On its path to the premiere, the production team shared an exciting look behind the scenes of the first “My Bias, My Boss” script reading session,

offering fans a glimpse into the vibrant chemistry of its star-studded cast.

The drama is locked in for an official premiere on August 3, 2026. It will occupy tvN’s premier Monday-Tuesday 8:50 PM KST time slot, a slot historically known for delivering hit romantic series.

From Global Webtoon to Live-Action Romance

Adapted from the sensational Naver Webtoon “Our Oppa Is an Idol” (우리 오빠는 아이돌)—which has garnered over 660 million views worldwide—the television adaptation explores a chaotic office romance heavily driven by K-pop fandom culture.

The story follows Nam Da-reum, a dedicated fangirl who successfully lands a job at the luxury fashion retail corporate brand Appello. Her primary motivation is simple: to work alongside her lifetime celebrity idol, who serves as a high-ranking executive at the firm. However, her carefully planned corporate life takes a chaotic turn when she gets entangled with her brilliant yet socially awkward CEO.

During the initial “My Bias, My Boss” script reading, the main cast immediately locked into their characters, showing a natural comedic timing that filled the room with laughter.

Core Characters Dynamic Unveiled

The table read highlighted the main trio and their distinct workplace dynamics:

  • Kang Hoon (playing Kang Ha-gi): He portrays the perfectionist CEO of Appello. While sharp and charismatic when conducting corporate strategy, Ha-gi transforms into an incredibly clumsy, naive individual whenever his hidden romantic feelings surface.
  • Kim Hye-jun (playing Nam Da-reum): Bringing a relatable energy to the room, Kim flawlessly captured the chaotic life of a passionate fangirl navigating a high-stakes corporate environment.
  • Cha Woo-min (playing Lee Chan): Capturing the sleek, effortless charm of a top-tier idol from the fictional group D.N.X who doubles as the company’s Director. Showing absolute dedication to the role, Cha even led supporting actors through a synchronized “idol group greeting” during the session.
  • Shin Yuna / ITZY’s Yuna (playing Yoon Cho-i): Adding a bright, fashionable flair to the corporate team, Yuna balanced the ensemble with her refreshing line delivery and distinct youthful charm.

The initial script read focused heavily on the playful bickering between Da-reum and Ha-gi, establishing a tense yet comedic rhythm that shifts drastically once Lee Chan joins the workplace equation, triggering a fierce office love triangle.
